“Raising A Rukus” is Fun & Unique For Entire Fam-Bam

“Raising A Rukus” is a first-of-its-kind series in virtual reality (VR) and it’s awesome! The 12-minute computer-animated film is packed with beautiful, colorful imagery and heart-warming adventure into different worlds. It felt like I was in a vibrantly colored piece of art. Even more, it was good, quick, clean, family fun.

The film follows twins Amy and Jonas and their new puppy, Ruckus, into an imaginary world where they learn the value of sharing and supporting one another. Together, they survive being chased by dinosaurs, falling into fire pits, navigating water rapids, and more. And all the while, you get to go along for the journey as if you are a fourth wheel! Imagine your favorite animated film–a Pixar or Disney film perhaps? Now plop yourself right into the middle of it as if you are there alongside the characters. That’s this!

When you see it, don’t miss anything–be sure to look all around you as there is a 360-degree world.  Also, be sure to pick the sibling you want to follow during the experience. Everything unfolds from there depending on who you select.

This inventive, fun story is a unique and cute experience. However, the fast-paced scenery and chase sequence makes this appropriate for older children. IMAX VR will only allow children seven and older to experience the film, perhaps because at IMAX, the seats move with the film and it feels a tad like a colorful virtual ride.

Produced by two-time Academy-Award winner Robert Stromberg and the Virtual Reality Company (VRC), “Raising a Rukus” opened this week at IMAX VR LA and will also be distributed on Samsung Gear VR later this month.

Disclosure: My hubby works for VRC in business development. That said, anyone who knows me knows I don’t have a poker face. I’m “WYSIWYG” and bluntly honest.
